A Slice of History
Golden Lake Hotel is proud to have had a guest from England that brought with him stories about Segamat dating back to 1952! Malaysia was then known as Malaya and in 1952 the Segamat Cycling Carnival drew Mr Alec Morrison to the town of Segamat. That same year saw the Malayan Cycling Track Championship being held in Segamat also. Mr Alec Morrison was kind enough to send over scanned copies of his original programme booklets to Golden Lake Hotel together with a letter of gratitude to our owner for bringing him around Segamat to reminisce about the 'good old days'.
We wonder how many people remember this historic event today? If you were there as a participant or just as a spectator, please do share your stories with us here. For now, we hope the following images can offer a glimpse of how different life was back then.
